I am Just Not a Poet

[A poem by Dr. T. Radhakrishnamacharyulu titled ‘I am Just Not a Poet’.]

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he emotions of trees and mountains attracted
And driven me to a poem
The told and untold thoughts and feelings of the Globe caught
And find me a way to literary Meet
Undoubtedly there
I fell in love with poetry very fondly
And began to go through poems in poetry books

Reading habituated me on fitness of health very well
It’s an engine to dwell literally
The fine aeration and green gardening of poetry
Augmented thirsty feeling in me to write up a poem
Yet
I am sure me is not a poet,
But a reader among reading clusters

The practice made the tool to shine brightly
So also the moving man moves right
And tries to keep straight the curved lanes
The mighty power in poetry to quench the unquenchable genres

By now it is very clear
That I am a pupil
In the field of incredible poetry

However
My unquenchable thirst
An irresistible desire
Put me on poetry to create
For well being of society and human kind
Thus
I look like a poet but me is not perfect still

No longing for awards and medals or plaques but
The kind rewards of readers
Adorned me
The societal values call me to pen on the hazards
Of both society and individual to keep intact and healthy

So it’s free and fair
To enumerate me
That I am not only a poet but a healer too
With a mission to read
the pulse, heart of society and living beings
With great response to keep right and well
